Associate Principal and E Flat Clarinet- NY Philharmonic

Benjamin Adler, a native of Brooklyn, New York, joined The New York Philharmonic as Associate Principal and E-flat Clarinet at the start of the 2023-24 season. Adler previously held positions with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared as guest principal clarinet with the St. Louis and Baltimore Symphonies and performed as a guest musician with The Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.
An avid educator, Adler has been on the faculty at the Brevard Music Center and Wisconsin Lutheran College. He has conducted master classes across the United States and abroad, sharing his expertise with clarinetists worldwide. He is the founder and artistic director of the Clarinet Maestro Festival, a series of master classes and private lessons that emphasize accessible education for all clarinetists.
Adler holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, where he studied under Steve Cohen. He earned his Master’s degree from the University of Southern California and an Artist Diploma from the Colburn School, where he was a student of Yehuda Gilad.
In his free time, Adler enjoys golfing and spending time with his cat and family. Benjamin Adler is a Buffet Crampon performing artist and clinician.
